Surgical Excellence, Compassionate Care and Innovative Research

Surgical oncologists receive specialized training in the surgical management of cancer. Our surgeons focus on the treatment of malignant and benign tumors of the colon, pancreas, liver, stomach, gallbladder, and other areas of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. At high volume centers such as UCSF, operative outcomes for cancer surgery are among the best because surgeons have perfected their skills through thousands of operations. Patients also receive highly coordinated multidisciplinary care from a team that includes surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, and other health professionals.
